Artist Statement:
A love letter to my adopted home of Oregon, Alis Volat Propriis was inspired by travel maps, postcards and Hugh Hayes’ famous restaurant placemats. It features petroglyphs that were photographed before the damming of the Columbia and Snake rivers. The border includes a Pendleton wool blanket motif inspired by the Mohawk Skywalkers (a nod to the New York/ New Jersey area where I grew up).
